THE PROPOSED LEAGUE HOSTEL AT YPRES.
The above plan has been submitted to the Committee of the League for their con
sideration. It has been worked out on an assumed average site in the town of Ypres.
The erection of the Hostel promises to be the leading activity of the League during
the coming year. It will be built from special funds which are now cordially appealed for.
The Hostelry once built should be self-supporting and will be the club house of all
our British and Belgian members. It will be endowed with beds for widows and others
who cannot afford a hotel, and will be the focus of interest for all British pilgrims.
The above plan follows faithfully old Flemish traditions and shows a moderate-sized
buildingmore for a comfortable Home of Rest than for a hotelthat should commend
itself to the Belgian authorities.
In the course of years to come the Hostel will undoubtedly become dear to many.
It will be the week-end rest of the City worker the quiet refuge for the bereaved mother
the indispensible Mecca of the battleground tourist.
