LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. The Ypres Times. Goldsmiths' Hall, London, E.C.2. 20th January, 1924. To the Editor of The Ypres Times. Dear Sir, May I make a correction of your memory tablet in this month's issue March 27th, 1916. The Mound (not Mount) at St. Eloi was taken by the 4th Royal Fusiliers and the 1st Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers and not the nth Northumberlands as stated. I also notice in jour list of V.C.'s won in the Salient the omission of the name of the Rev. E. N. Mellish, Chaplain to the 9th Brigade, who won his V.C. at the taking of the Mound when attached to the 4th Royal Fusiliers. Yours faithfully, Humphrey H. Prideaux, Major. I,ate Northumberland Fusiliers and Staff Captain, 9th Brigade. [The Rev. E. N. Mellish is shown in the official list as having gained his V.C. at St. Eloi in France, but he should obviously have been included in our list.—Ed., Y.T.] 17, Villiers Street, Hertford, Herts. 3rd March, 1924. To ine Editor of The Ypres Times. Dear Sir, I should be very grateful if any of your readers could supply me with the following trench maps (1) Canal Bank Sector of the Salient, January to July, 1917. (2) Menin Road Sector about November 1st, 1917. (3) Theipval Sector of Somme Front about November, 1916. The front held by the 39th Division is of special interest, as it was with this Division that i served. I find it difficult to get detailed maps showing the old familiar trench names as we knew them, so I am hoping that some ex-officers or N.C.O.'s have duplicate maps and can spare some of them. Yours faithfully, Edgar W. Smith. P.S.Can any one tell me if the history of the 39th Division has ever been written, and if so who are the publishers Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada. January 29th, 1924. The Secretary, YprES League, Dear Sir, I have received several copies of your paper, The Ypres Times, from Mr. G. T. Medforth, of this town, and have enjoyed them so much that I am enclosing an application for membership. I wish to offer my congratulations 011 the work you are doing your paper is especially interesting to the ex-Service men on this side of the Atlantic, as it is impossible for us to take advantage of the excursions to the old familiar places. However, X hope some day to have another look at the old Salient and to climb the hills unmolested and to look on the coveted ground from which all the trouble used to come. Wishing you every success in your work. Yours very truly, R. R. Murray. 53, Albert Street, Whitstable-on-Sea, Rent. 5th January, 1924. To the Editor of The Ypres Times. Sir, Can any of your readers give me any news Of my husband, 2nd Lieut. H. Costin, 10th Batt., Royal West Kent Regiment, missing on August 1st, 1917, at Klein Zillebeke? I shall be grateful if any member of the 10th West Kents could give me any information regarding him. Yours faithfully, Liuax Costin. To the Editor of The Ypres Times. Dear Sir, I am anxious to get in touch with any of my old comrades who were in the Salient with me in '14 and '15. My unit was the 49th Battery, R.F.A., 3rd Division. Anyone writing to my address will get a reply from me. Yours faithfully, Godfrey S. Barber. 63, Kinshaw St., Maryhill Road, Glasgow. Can any reader who took part in the action at Herenthage Chateau, near Inverness Copse, about 21- miles S.E. of Ypres, oil August 22nd, 1917, give any information concerning the death and burial of Cyril Thornthwaite Brooke, Acting Captain, 3rd Dorsets, attached to 6th Somersets, who was killed at Herenthage Chateau on that date If anyone can supply information, will he kindly write to L.B. c/o The Ypres Times Central Fire Station, Tottenham, London, N.15. February 17th, 1924. To the Editor of The Ypres Times. Dear Sir, I want to point out an error in your January issue which I feel sure you will be as anxious to correct as I am to see it corrected. In your list of V.C. 's won in the Salient and Belgium you have omitted the very first V.C. ever won by the British
