CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY.
The London County Committee are pleased to
announce that the second annual Children's
Christmas Party will be held at The Alexandra
Trust, 124-144, City Road, London, E.C.I, on
January 16th, 1926, fTom 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Members of the J unior Division will be admitted
free children of League members and friends
will be admitted on payment of 6d. each. The
Party held last year was a great success, and
the Committee hope that all attending this one
will spend a very happy time. A Christmas
tree will be provided and any friends who are
interested and would like to give a small donation
are asked to forward it to the Hon. Secretary,
London County Committee. The Committee
would esteem it a favour if those intending to
be present will notify the Hon. Secretary, London
County Committee; 9, Baker Street, W.l, on or
before January 12th. Parents of children are also
welcomed. The Committee would be grateful for
any Christmas decorations for which members
have no further use and these should be sent to
the London County Committee at 9, Baker Street,
Portman Square, W.L
SECOND ANNUAL REUNION DINNER.
LONDON COUNTY COMMITTEE.
The London County Committee held their
Second Reunion Dinner at Anderton's Hotel on
Friday, 11th December, under the chairmanship
of Lieut -General Sir Herbert Uniacke, K.C.M.G.,
C.B. Among those present were Captain and Mrs.
C. Alliston, Lieut.-Col. B. S. Browne, Major
H. Cardinal Harford, Captain and Mrs. F. H. Davies,
the Hon. Alice Douglas Pennant, Lieut. T. Ross
Furner, Major E. Montague Jones, O.B.E. (Chair
man, London County Committee), Captain and
Mrs. E. Clive Maskelyne, Lieut-General Sir
William P. Pultenev, K.C.B., K.C.M.G., K.C.V.O.,
D.S.O., (Chairman, Executive Committee), Captain
G. E. de Trafford, M.C. (Secretary, Ypres League),
Captain H. Trevor Williams, C. Longdon, Esq.,
M.V.O., and Mr. John Boughey (Hon. Secretary,
London County Committee).
Proposing the toast of the London County
Committee, the Chairman said he regarded the
London County Committee as the very hub of
the Ypres League. (Cheers.) It was a league
of remembrance of those who kept the flag flying
for four years in front of Ypres, and it was hp
to them to see that those who fell in that great
campaign were not forgotten. (Cheers.)
Major Montague J ones (Chairman of the London
County Committee), who responded to the toast,
which was received with great enthusiasm,
emphasised the immense volume of voluntary
work done by the Committee. (Hear, hear.) He
made an urgent appeal for more funds to enable
them to carry on the work they were doing in
preserving the memorials in the Ypres Salient
and assisting poor relatives of the fallen to visit
their graves. He also explained the need for
more young members for the Junior Division,
in order that the good work might be handed on.
Captain Alliston gave the toast of The
Guests,'' to which Mrs. Alliston and Captain
Bradford responded. The toast of the Chairman
was given by Captain E. Clive Maskelyne, M.C.,
and Lieut.-General Sir Herbert Uniacke responded.
Before the company dispersed Major H. Cardinal
Harford gave the following toast, written by
Beatrix Brice -
Here's a health to the man who fought at my
side,
To the man who's beside me to-jfay
To the man who will follow and carry our torch-
Wipers! For ever and aye.
During the evening the following telegram was
received from the Sheffield Branch Greetings
from Sheffield Branch. Hope you have good
muster and fine time."
