CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY.
The fourth annual Christmas Party, organised
by the London County Committee for the members
of the Junior Division of the Ypres League, was
held on the afternoon of Saturday, January the
14th, 1928, at the Mary Ward Settlement, which
was kindly lent for the occasion by the Mary Ward
Settlement Council.
Over 150 children were present.
Tea was served at gaily decorated tables, on
which crackers found a place, in a hall profusety
bedecked with flags, bunting and streamers. A
number of energetic helpers attended to the
requirements of the children and their friends, who
did full justice to the meal, consisting of tea, milk,
bread and butter, cakes, buns and biscuits. After
tea, Professor Craggs of the Magic Circle presented
a series of conjuring tricks which completely
mystified his juvenile audience. The second part
of his programme consisted of a ventriloquial
performance with his model schoolboy, which
caused much amusement to young and old alike.
The principal event of the evening was the large
Christmas Tree, from which each child received
several gifts. Then followed crackcr-pulling and
the distribution of boxes of chocolates. On
leaving, each little guest was presented with an
apple and an orange.
During the evening Major Montague Jones,
O.B.E., chairman of the London County Com
mittee, addressed a few words to those present on
the work of the League as well as expressing the
thanks of the Committee to all wh? had helped
to make the evening a success.
The London County Committee desire to piac<
on record their grateful thanks to the band of
willing helpers, which included Major and Mrs.
Montague Jones, Mr. J. Boughey, secretary.
Captains C. Alliston and F. H. Davies, Mr. and

Myall. The Committee are also very grateful to
their many kind friends who provided gifts.
