88 THE YPRES TIMES Arranged by the Purley Branch of The Ypres Leaglte. ON Wednesday, the 26th ultimo, the Second Annual Overseas Dinner arranged by this branch took place at the Red Lion Hotel, Coulsdon, the company being exclusively composed of those who saw overseas service in the Great War. Commander R. H. Shelton, D.S.O., was in the chair, and this year the num bers were practically double those who attended a year ago, eighty taking part in the dinner and a further half-dozen being prevented by illness from attending. The Operation Orders were very effec tively carried outCapt. E. Featherstone called the roll, and the rations supplied were very good indeed. The Chairman's strafe of the troops was a most entertaining item, and his little lecture on discipline caused roars of laughter. Mr. T. C. Sterndale-Bennett was extremely entertaining, and in the inter vals between his appearances the audience had no difficulty in entertaining them selves with many good stories and songs. The evening closed with an orderly retreat, after what was voted an immensely successful reunion. Thirty members joined the League as a result of the reunion. Members present served in the following R.N.V.R., R.N.D. R.F.A., R.G.A. Dorset Yeomanry, Surrey Yeomanry, Royal Bucks Hussars R.E. Machine Gun Corps, Tank Corps. R.F.C., R.A.F. Artists, The Buffs, Black Watch, Bedfords, Border Regiment, Canadian, Cheshire, Durham L.I., East Lanes, East Surrey, Essex, H.A.C., Hertfords, King's Own Lancaster, King's Liver- pools, Lancashire Fusiliers, London, London Scottish, Middlesex, Norfolks, Oxford and Bucks L.I., K.R.R.C., Royal Fusiliers, Royal West Surreys, Royal West Kents, Punjabis, Suffolks, Welsh, Yorks. R.A.S.C., R.A.M.C., Army Dental Corps. Members saw service on the following fronts France, Belgium, Gallipoli, Palestine, Mesopotamia, Italy, Salonica, Egypt, India, Macedonia, Russia, Afghanistan, Hungary, and Trans-Caucasia. Rations.
