EMPIRE DAY REVIEW.
This issue of the Ypres Times would not be
complete without a few words on the Empire
Review on Saturday, May 24th, held in Hyde
Park.
By the kindness of The League of Empire a
contingent of the Ypres League was able to take
part. The admirable organization of the parade
was due to the Chairman of the London County
Committee, Major E. Montague-Jones, O.B.E.
Our Chairman puts his heart and soul into
everything he undertakes and we are fortunate
in having such an excellent C.O.
Previous to the parade the new Union Jack,
generously given by Capt. G. E. de Trafford,
M.C., to the London County Committee, was
presented by Lieut.-General Sir Herbert Uniacke,
K.C.B., K.C.M.G., and carried by Sergt. O.
Brooks, V.C. We are proud to possess such a
handsome flag and tender to Capt. de Trafford,
on behalf of the London members, very grateful
thanks for all he has done, and is doing for us.
His support is known only by a few, but we
should like to place on record here that London
has a good pal in our Secretary.
Following the presentation the general parade
took place, and all ranks were inspected by
H.R.H. Prince George, who took the salute as
the various contingents marched past.
Our thanks are due to all who willingly gave
up this Saturday afternoon to make our parade
such a success, and the Committee wish to convey
their sincere thanks to Capt. J. C. Cree, who
kindly took charge of the Ypres League Con
tingent at so short a notice.
