to get a last shot at the Boche, he said. Luckily he was not hurt, and did not even
mention bruises, so pleased was he at telling of the many Germans he was certain
he had accounted for.
Safely back in the French Army zone, the crew shared a bottle of wine to
celebrate an occasion which to at least one of them represented by far the most
exhilarating adventure of the whole war.
