Individual Tours. An arrangement has been made with three hotels in and about
Ypres. The managers of each have arranged to give the greatest possible attention
to the comfort of the members of the League. The prices have been reduced and they
express their desire to do their utmost to give to the tired voyager a feeling of homeliness
and comfort. Arrangements have also been made with the Transport Services to leave
nothing undone with regard to advice on any question whatever, and to convey our
members to any point on the Battlefield that they may desire to visit.
All intending travellers should write in good time to the Secretary of the Ypres
League informing him of their intended visit. A pamphlet has been prepared showing
every possible detail connected with the trip, charges of services, etc. Three hotels have
been carefully selected and their respective merits appear to be in the order as they
appear in the pamphlet.
The first League Pilgrimage to the Ypres battlefields has opened the way for great
possibilities this year. We all feel that though there was bound to be a certain amount
of confusion and ptrhaps a little inexperience in looking after the individual comforts
of so many people, still, the vast bulk who took part in the procession and had an oppor
tunity of looking round afterwards, must look back on that day with great satisfaction.
A special sub-committee is to be appointed at the general committee meeting in
April to go into cost, date, and all details of a pilgrimage re-union, which will in all
probability be held in July. The party will not exceed 500, and the cost for each person
will be reduced to the lowest possible figure. The organisation will be thorough, and
parties which intend to visit adjacent cemeteries will be told off in groups to be given
individual attention throughout the trip.
Members who wish to take part in the reunion at Ypres are requested to
inform the Secretary, 100, Eaton Place, S.W.I during April and May, On June
2nd and 3rd, a notice will appear in the News of the World" and "Daily Mail,"
giving definite information.
King's Regs." have increased by a new paragraph as a result of His Majesty's
gracious approval of permanent instructions being issued to the Army regarding the
ol servance of Armistice Day. This is the text of the new paragraph which will be added
Each year on the morning of Armistice Day, November 11, at 11 a.m., all troops will
stand at attention for two minutes, and all guards turn out and present arms."
When you have finished with this copy of the
"Ypres Times," pass it on to a friend. If
every member of the League obtained one
more member there would never be any more
need for us to advertise.
