The Ypres Times.
LONDON COUNTY BRANCH.
A dinner will be held in connection with the
above Branch on Thursday, April ioth, at
Anderton's Hotel, Fleet Street, 7 for 7.30 p.m.,
and full particulars will be given in the next issue
of The Ypres Times. The price of tickets will be
6s. 6d. to members and 8s. 6d. to any guests they
may introduce. Branch Secretaries and Corres
ponding Members are requested to bear this in
mind. The London County Committee will much
appreciate early application for tickets or at least
intimation from members that they will attend,
as this will enable the Committee to make the
necessary catering arrangements.
A concert was held at the Camberwell Baths by
the Camberwell Tramwaymen's Concert Party on
the 9th November, and by the kind invitation of
Mr. H. Chalfont, business manager of the concert
party, and under arrangements made by Mr.
G. F. Grice, Corresponding Member of the
League for S.E. London, the London County
Committee were represented. Major Ramsdale,
first Chairman of the London County Com
mitteeCaptain F. H. Daires Mr. J. Boughey,
Hon. Secretary London County Committee, and
Mr. G. F. Grice attended on behalf of the League.
Major Ramsdale made an excellent speech
outlining the objects of the League and appeal
ing for members. A Corner in Flanders was
sung, League propaganda was distributed, and
copies of the song sold under the supervision

of Mr. Grice. The concert was a great success
in itself, and it is felt that the London County
Committee has done well in strengthening its
already cordial relations with this large and
important body, mainly composed of ex-Service
men. The members who attended the concert
would like to proffer their thanks for the kind and
courteous reception they received from the
management and audience.
SHEFFIELD AND DIS RICT BRANCH.
The annual meeting of the Sheffield Branch
took place at Whiteley's College, Surrey Street,
Sheffield, on Saturday afternoon, November 3
1922. Mr. S. Whiteley was voted to the chair.
A room has been booked at the King's Head
Hotel for 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 1924,
so that members may gather and chat about old
times and also express their views on matters
relating to the Branch and the League generally.
This is quite an informal affair. If the gathering
proves popular the room for such will be booked
for the last Thursday of the month of issue of
each Ypres Times. If you can play the piano,
please come and do so. Drop a P.C. to the
Branch Secretary (Capt. J. Wilkinson, Ivydene,
Fieldhead Road, Sheffield) if you are likely to
come along.
The Rev. A. E. Duckett, B.Sc., D.L.C., has been
invited and has accepted the position of Hon.
Chaplain to the Branch.
A wreath sent by the Executive Committee of
the League and one subscribed for by the Branch
were placed on the Y. L. memorial in Weston
Park at 11 a.m. on November nth. The
Branch wreath bore the inscription "In memory
of our Comrades who fell in the Ypres Salient
during the Great War 1914-1918, from members
of the Sheffield and District Branch, The Ypres
League.

N.W. LONDON.
The N.W. London Branch held a successful
general meeting on November 14 at 28, High
Street, Camden Town, N.W.i., the room being
kindly offered by the local British Legion Branch.
Capt. C. Alliston was in the chair, supported by
Major Ramsdale, Mr. Jack Mathews, Mr. Long,
Mr. Thorburn, Mr. McCartney and other members.
In his report, the chairman mentioned the
splendid amount of £210 collected for Cornflower
Day, the Children's Tea Party to over 200 young
sters, and the many committee meetings held since
the last annual general meeting. The financial
position was reported as very strong, and the
chairman appealed for energetic inembers to come
forward to maintain the success and prestige of
the N.W. Branch. Several new members joined,
and it was decided to run a big social evening in
J anuary.
