The Ypres Times.
Ypres Day, and therefore found it impossible to arrange with the Cinemas in Reading, still succeeded
in selling a very nice number with the cordial help of Captain Wallis. We feel that Reading has made
a start and that the propaganda distributed by means of the song will bear good results in that
district.
Blundellsands.Mr. A. M. Webster, at very short notice, made very successful arrangements for
selling the song in Liverpool, and produced a most satisfactory contribution to our funds. We have to
thank the Managers of the Victoria Cinema (Walton) Bootle Palace, Tunnel Road Picturedrome,
Coliseum (Walton), Aintree Picture Palace, and the Prince of Wales Picturedrome House, for selling
the song in their theatres.
Galashiels.Mrs. Lindsay-Kelsall was able to enlist the interest of the Earl of Dalkeith, who, though
himself unfortunately prevented from being present, was represented by Captain Wilkie, K.O.S.B.,
at the Play House, where, through the kindness of the directors and of Capt. C. W. Scott-Buccleuch,
the Manager, the song was being sold. Captain Wilkie and Mrs. Scott-Buccleuch both spoke on behalf
of the League, and Mr. J. P. Ling, of the Palace Theatre, London, sang the song to the great delight of
the audience. A pipe band of ex-Service men attended and combined to produce a most excellent
result. Besides these we must also thank Messrs. Weir, Patterson, Chisholme, White, Green, W. and
H. Homey, and the Misses Macintosh and Moran for valuable services rendered.
AldersflOt.-Through the help of Lt.-Col. Poole, D.S.O., Hon. Sec. of F.M. Lord Plumer's Ypres
Church Fund, the songs were sold through the medium of Mr. Hemings, Manager of the Aldershot
Area of the N.A.A.F.I., and we had the most pleasant surprise of a large cheque from this district.
We were very glad to have the opportunity of selling the song of the Ypres League in this military
centre.
Cambridge. We feel rather a triumph in having our songs sold in the Playhouse. It was entirely-
due to Mr. Freeman, Manager, and those of the staff who helped to sell. The University towns of Oxford
and Cambridge are generally the most difficult places to sell for charity in the Cinemas, and I think Mr.
Freeman is to be much congratulated for the success of his efforts.
Newcastle.Mr. Stansfield, Manager, Grange Picture House, assisted by Messrs. Charles Innis,
S. T. Stafford, C. Ainley, J. Mills and Mrs. C. Innis, brought our propaganda well before the notice of
the public by the sales.
We would like to thank the following ladies and gentlemen, Managers of Cinemas
and their Staffs who ably assisted in the sales

violinist, and the fine Picture House Orchestra. Mr. G. C. H. Dicker took considerable pains to make
our day a success. Ernest Brock, The Majestic Picture House, Ashton-under-Lyne. H. Hale, The
Picture House, Bristol. T. W. Payne, The Picture House, Chorlton-cum-Hardy. Mr. Sydney Lester,
Manager of the Court Cinema, Skinnergate, Darlington, arranged for a popular local vocalist to sing
our song, and sold out as a result. The demand was such that he arranged with Mr. J osolyne, music
dealer of Skinnergate, to continue to sell additional songs, and hopes that those members of his audience
who were unable to obtain copies will apply to Mr. Josolyne for them. The Manager, Picture House,
Glasgow. The Manager, Mr. J. C. Knightly, Palace Theatre, Glossop, and his able Musical Director,
Mr. J. E. Bratby. The Manager, Picture House, Hull. Mr. S. Mailer, The Picture House, Edinburgh,

House, Hull. The Theatre Royal, Glossop. At the Gaiety, Leith, Mr. Renour took personal pains,
and only returned 18 copies out of the large number we sent him. Mr. Chandler, Picture House,
Southampton, did splendid work for our cause. The Surrey County Cinema, Sutton, through the energy
of Mr. JA. Barker, the Manager, sent us a goodly cheque.
We would like most specially to mention the courtesy and kindness shown to us by Mr. Sydney
Carter, the Managing Director of the New Century Pictures, Ltd., the General Manager, Mr. Francis E.
Sunderland, and the Managers of all the Cinemas controlled by them. We had extremely good results
from the appeal made by them on our behalf and we would like to thank the followingMr. R. T.
