WHITSUNTIDE PILGRIMAGE. The Ypres Times. the 1924-15 star and the two Service ribbons, with the regimental motto Aucto Splendore Resurge," inscribed on the memorial card, which bore the legend "To all ranks of the 6th K.S.L.I.who fell inthe'Great War, 1914-18." We dismissed with a lump in our throats at the thought of all the gallant men to whom we had paid homage. But let it be a consolation to those who have loved ones iburied out yonder," to know how neat -and tidy each individual grave is kept. The War Graves Commission have played their part truly and well the graves of the unknownBritish Soldier known unto God are as carefully tended as that of the most gallant and well- known officer who lies buried in these beau tiful cemeteries. The latter part of Sunday was spent in visiting interesting points in the Salient and viewing the various Divi sional Memorials. Monday was a full day with haversack rations." A party of twenty set out on a motor tour of the whole front from Ypres to Arras, via Ploegsteert, Armentières, Fleurbaix, La Basseé, Vimy, Lens, and so on to Arras, returning by a different and interesting route through Béthune, Estaires, Kemmel, and back to Ypres in time for dinner, well pleased with all that they had seen. It should be mentioned that all the pilgrims soon made friends, as they had this in common that they were sufficiently interested and had taken the trouble to travel many miles in order to pay homage to the thousands of silent heroes who had made the Great Sacrifice, by visiting their resting-places. In conclusion, let me say that it is not necessary to be doleful on a pilgrimage. Xo one wishes it, and the writer carried away with him some happy recollections of new friends made, and hopes for the success of many future pilgrimages. J. T. LOVEKIN.
