Members of the Ypres League and their friends are invited to join in the Annual
Ceremony at the Cenotaph, Whitehall, on Monday, 31st October, 1927, at 11 a.m. They
may take up their positions on the pavement on the river side in two ranks facing the
Cenotaph, assembling individually not earlier than 10.30 a.m. and not later than 10.45
a.m. Members are requested not to leave the pavement during the Cremony. It is
hoped that H.R.H. Princess Beatrice will again graciously consent to lay the League
wreath at the Cenotaph, after which a wreath will be placed on the tomb of the Unknown
Warrior.
Medals and badges may be worn, but not uniform.
Members can lay wreaths themselves after the ceremony, or they may be sent to
The Ypres League, 9, Baker Street, London, W.i, to arrive not later than Saturday
morning, October 29th.
MEMBERSHIP OF THE LEAGUE.
This is open to all who served in the Salient,
and to all those whose relatives or friends died
there, in order that they may have a record of
that service for themselves and their descendants,
and belong to the comradeship of men and women
who understand and remember all that Ypres
meant in suffering and endurance.
Life membership, £2 10s. Annual members, 5s.
Special charges are made to those who cannot
afford the 5s. subscription.
Do not let the fact of your not having served
in the Salient deter you from joining the Ypres
League. Those who have neither fought in the
Salient nor lost relatives there, but who are in
sympathy with the objects of the Ypres League,
are admitted to its fellowship, but are not given
scroll certificates.
There is also a J unior Division to which children
of those who served in the Salient, also those who
sympathise with our objects, have the right to
belong. Annual subscriptions Is. up to the age
of 18, after which they can become ordinary
members of the League.
THE LONDON COUNTY COMMITTEE.
With the isuse of the present number of The
Ypres Times comes once more the important
announcement that the London County Committee
are holding their Fifth Annual Re-union Smoking
Concert on Thursday, the 20th October, 1927,
at the Caxton Hall, Caxton Street, Victoria
Street, S.W.I, at 7.30 p.m.
The Smoking Concerts held in the past have
been well supported and it is with a view to
obtaining continued and increased support that
the Committee insert this article. The date of the
Concert, 20th October, coincides with the date
of the first Battle of Ypres, 20th October, 1914,
and so the Committee ask all who were together
in the Salient to come along once more and meet
on this anniversary at the Reunion Smoking
Concert. You have some friend who was with
you in the Salient. Why not ask him to come
along with you and spend a pleasant evening
on Thursday, 20th October The Committee
are out to fill the Caxton Hall this year, but they
cannot attain this object without your kind
support. Will you help The organisation of a
concert entails a great deal of work, but if we
can have the Caxton Hall filled on the 20th
October then the work will have been only a
pleasure and we shall be amply rewarded for
our efforts.
The Committee are pleased to announce that
the chair will be taken by Sir H. Perry Robinson,
K.B.E. The prices of tickets will be, as usual,
5s., 2s. 6d., and Is. (Ladies are specially invited.)
