WREATHS ON WAR GRAVES IN FRANCE
AND BELGIUM.
Arrangements are made by the Ypres League
to place wreaths for relatives on the graves of
British soldiers situated in France and Belgium
at the following times of the year
EASTER, ARMISTICE DAY, CHRISTMAS.
The wreaths may be composed of natural
flowers, laurel or holly, and can be bought at
the following prices 12s. 6d., 15s. 6d., and 20s.,
according to the size and quality, of the wreath.
The above prices to include placing on the grave
and one unmounted photograph and negative,
post card size, which will be sent to the relative,
showing the wreath in position. For wreaths
placed at the request of relatives on special dates,
other than Easter, Armistice Day, and Christmas,
an extra charge will be necessary, according to the
location of the grave.
Applications for wreaths should be sent to the
Secretary, together with remittance, giving the
regimental particulars of the soldier, name of
cemetery, and number of plot, row and grave.
PHOTOGRAPHS OF WAR GRAVES.
The Ypres League has made arrangements
whereby it is able to supply photographs (nega
tive, and one print, post card size, unmounted) of
graves situated in the Ypres Salient, and in the
Hazebrouck and Armentieres areas at the price
of 10s. each. Prices for photographs taken in the
Somme area may be obtained on application.
All applications for photographs should be sent
to the Secretary, together with remittance, giving
the regimental particulars of the soldier, name of
cemetery, and number of plot, row and grave.
EMBROIDERED BADGES.
These badges can be supplied at 4s. each, post
free. A considerable number have already been
sold, and we are delighted to hear that the
badges have given entire satisfaction to our
members who have received them. Applications
to the Secretary.
THE VPRES LEAGUE HEADQUARTERS
AT YPRES.
Members are cordially invited during their stay
at Ypres to visit our Headquarters at No. 19,
Rue Surmont de Volsberghe, where they will
receive a hearty welcome from our representative
(Captain P. D. Parminter).
Here, too, they will find an excellent library,
comprising the majority of the war and divisional
histories, which are available for the use of all
visitors.
COLOURED WOOL BUTTONHOLES.
We desire to call the attention of our women
readers to these dainty posies in artistic shades of
golden-brown, red, purple, mauve, pink, etc.,
with variegated leaves, so popular at the moment.
These are for sale at Is. 6d. and 2s. each, and will
be gladly sent, post free, to any purchaser for
warding these amounts to the Secretary, Ypres
League, 9, Baker Street, London, W.l.
The making of these posies entails much time,
no little skill, and infinite patience. We are
greatly indebted to Miss de Trafford, who has not
only made these pretty articles in her leisure, but
has sold them entirely for the benefit of the
League. We ask her to accept our grateful
thanks.
WHAT THE LEAGUE HAS DONE.
(1) Organised inexpensive travel and hotel
accommodation for pilgrims to the Salient
and War Graves.
(2) Established Headquarters and a Rest Room
at Ypres (19 Rue Surmont de Volsberghe).
(3) Published The Ypres Times quarterly for
u. seven years.
(4) Published Maps of the Salient and Cemeteries.
(6) Erected seven granite Pylons in the Ypres
Salient to mark the extreme German
advance.
(0) Given assistance and advice to ex-soldiers In
respect of employment and pensions.
(7) Commemorated Ypres Day on October 31st
at home and abroad.
(8) Held re-unions of members in London and the
provinces,
(9) Taken free pilgrims to the battlefields.
(10) Organised a Junior Division.
(11) Published a guide book called The Immortal
Salient, now in its fourth edition.
(12) Published The Battle Book of Yprts, a history
of notable deeds contributed by all regi
ments.
(13) Erected forty signboards marking historic
spots in the Salient.
A scheme is under consideration for a memorial
belfry in the Salient.
