SINCE the above photograph was taken in March, the exterior of the School
has been completed, and now only awaits fittings and furniture.
The School has been built by Etonians and their relatives as a Memorial to the
342 Etonians who gave their lives in defence of the Ypres Salient.
The object of the School is to educate the British children whose parents are
employed by the Imperial War Graves Commission in the care of the cemeteries
which surround Ypres.
BRITISH SCHOOL (IN COURSE OF ERECTION).
At the end of last year there were nearly one hundred British boys and girls
attending the Belgian schools, while nearly two hundred gathered together for a
Christmas party.
A roll of the Etonians who lost their lives in the Salient has been completed,
and will be hung in the schoolroom.
The Church.
Good progress has been made with the building of the Church, and the roof
will be completed by the end of July.
At Whitsuntide the Rev. G. R. Milner took over the duties of resident chaplain
at Ypres, and with Mrs. Milner has been warmly welcomed.
The Parsonage and Pilgrims' Rooms will be commenced as soon as funds
permit; they are both badly needed. W. P. Pulteney,
