THE YPRES TIMES
The Duke then took the salute from the
various columns as they marched past while
the Metropolitan Police Band played stirring
tunes. A great cheer from the public greeted
the Old Contemptibles as they marched past
the saluting point. The various units then
proceeded to dismiss and we came away from
the ceremony feeling proud to have taken part
in such a parade.
The London County Committee desire to
thank all those members and friends who
attended and joined in the League's contingent.
Another parade, it is hoped, will take place on
Sunday, October 28th, 1928, to commemorate
Ypres Day (October 31st). Full particulars
will appear in the next issue of The Ypres
Times.
ANNUAL SMOKING CONCERT.
On Thursday, October 18th, 1928, at the
Caxton Hall, Caxton Street, Victoria Street,
S.W.i, will be held the Sixth Annual Smoking
Concert organized by the London County Com
mittee, who are engaged at the present time
dealing with the arrangements for the concert,
full particulars of which will appear in the next
issue of The Ypres Times. All the annual
concerts given in the past have been well sup
ported by members of the League and the
Committee trust they may still have the same
kind help that has been given in the past. To
the members of the Committee the arrange
ments of these concerts entail a very heavy
amount of spade work, but they rely upon the
individual members of the League to make them
a success not only by attending themselves, but
by advertising them. An excellent programme
will be given and it is hoped again to add
community singing of the old war-time choruses
during the evening's performance, so it will be
a great encouragement to have a full hall.
May we hope you will do your level best
Ladies are also invited.
FLAG APPEAL.
It is the earnest wish of the London County
Committee to have a flag which can be used for
all ceremonies in connection with the Ypres
League, and it has been suggested that some
lady residing in London might be willing to
undertake this work. We should be grateful
if anyone interested would kindly correspond
with the Honorary Secretary, London County
Committee, Ypres League, 9, Baker Street, W.i,
who will give full particulars of the suggested
design. Material will be supplied.
