THE YPRES TIMES
Committee, but to the valuable support of our
numerous friends, to whom the Committee is
very grateful.
A great many of our musical items are arranged
by Mrs. Heap and her friends and the talent
shown at the meetings is indeed very excellent.
We offer our sincere thanks to Mrs. Heap for
all her kindness and for the work she has done
to help us, and it is no secret to say that more
than once when we have been let down by
someone, Mrs. Heap has always come to the
fore and brought along her talented friends at
a few hours notice. Grateful thanks are also
due to Mrs. Furner for her valuable assistance
at the piano.
We were also very pleased to receive another
visit from Mr. P. Hubbart, who again charmed
his audience with his very fine voice.
One could go on for ever thanking different
helpers, but as space is limited we will ask them
all through these pages to kindly accept our
warmest thanks for all their support. The
meeting in June was left open to members, and
from the response made we are pleased to note
that we have excellent talent to call upon at
future occasions.
The June Gathering should have been the last
of the season, but through pressure from our
members we are holding another meeting in
July, and there may also be one in August,
but this all depends on how many members
attend the July Informal Gathering.
The meeting for July will be held at the
George Hotel, 213, Strand, W.C.2. (opposite
the main entrance to the Law Courts) on
Thursday, July 4th, 1929, from 7 p.m to 10 p.m.
Again, on Thursday, August 1st, and on Thurs
day, September 5th, when Mrs. Cameron has
kindly promised to provide the programme for
the evening.
The London County Committee extend to all
a hearty welcome to this meeting and invite
members to bring a friend.
The Committee request all members to give
their support to the League. Will you en
deavour to enrol one new member during this
coming quarter It can be done, as already
proved, by those who have the League at
heart. One new member each would make all
the difference to us in London. We ask this
favourdo not let us ask in vain.
ANNUAL SMOKING CONCERT.
The Seventh Annual Smoking Concert is
being arranged this year to take place on
Thursday, October 24th, 1929, and we look
forward to having a record gathering. Will
members kindly book the date and give us their
support Full particulars will appear in the
next issue of the Ypres Times.
