TO OUR NEW MEMBERS. In each quarterly edition of The Ypres Times we are always pleased to address a short letter to new members. We heartily welcome all who have joined during the past three months, and we feel confident in your loyal support in persuading others to become members of the League, for there are many who would be anxious to enrol immediately they are conversant with our aims and objects. We are always endeavouring to keep alive the Immortal Defence and we appeal to all, especially to those who served at Ypres to do everything in their power to extend the League's interests at home and abroad. The loan of The Ypres Times to non-members will serve as good propaganda, and in the event of an individual member's copy being lost or mislaid we shall be very glad to replace it free of charge. We would like our members to apply to Headquarters for membership forms and so save the trouble and delay of writing to us each time they find a prospective recruit. We are now approaching the Ypres League Annual Commemoration at the Cenotaph on October 31st, which is known as Ypres Day. This day marked the crisis of the first Battle of Ypres when our line was saved at Gheluvelt. In addition to commemoration the League endeavours to keep up the wartime spirit and fellowship, and it is our duty to ask all our members to join with us in the work of promoting our aims and objects. There are many thou sands of men in civil life who can never forget the dark days in the Ypres Salient, who ought W. P. Pulteney, Lieut.-General, Hon. Secretary, 9, Baker Street, London, W. by right to be members of the League and possess the beautiful Scroll Certificate which is given them in order that they may have a record of their service for themselves and their descendants. We beg to remind our new members that the best way they can help is by adding to the League's membership, and we wish you every success in this work. TO BRANCH SECRETARIES AND CORRESPONDING MEMBERS. We are glad to welcome three new correspond ing members, Mr. E. Howe has kindly offered to act in this capacity for Halifax and Bradford. Mr. E. Swaine for Lincoln, and Mr. E. Smith for Cliftonville. We trust that the work which they are so generously giving to the League will meet with good results, and that we shall have the pleasure to welcome many new members from their districts. We thank all those who have helped in recruiting during the past three monthsspecial thanks are due to Lieut.-Colonel G. J. Henderson for his enthusi astic recruiting campaign, and to Mr. W. H. Taylor of Colchester for depositing copies of The Ypres Times in various regimental messes, and we hope others will follow his example. Our grateful thanks are also due to Monsieur G. Huyghe, R.A.C. representative, and Miss D. de Trafford for their valuable propaganda work at Ostend and Nice respectively. It may interest our readers to know that our travel bureau has retained its usual activity
