Messrs. C. H. Green and C. Lawson. According
to reports there are other Branches making
preparations for strong spring offensives, and
Corresponding Members, too, are working hard,
so we can look forward to a big increase in
membership by the end of the year.
Prospects are promising in the Travel Depart
ment. On March 18th a party of Grenadier
Guards and Welsh Guards made a four-day
battlefield tour of France and Belgium under the
auspices of the Ypres League. On April 3rd
we are making arrangements for a party of the
2nd City of London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers)
to visit Ypres in connection with the unveiling
of their Regimental Memorial Brass in the Ypres
British Church. On May 8th to nth we shall
again have much pleasure to organize a tour for
a large party of the 85th Club. Our Easter
and Whitsuntide Pilgrimages will take place as
usual. Then a special service at St. George's
Church at Ypres is to be held on Messines Day,
Sunday, June 7th, at which our President,
Field-Marshal The Viscount Plumer, will attend.
A number of Regimental Memorial Brasses will
be unveiled on this occasion, and the League
will organize a Pilgrimage from June 6th to 9th,
via Ostend, and independent travel by any
route desired. Prospectuses can be obtained
from the Secretary, Ypres League, 9, Baker
Street, W.i. We want our Branch Secretaries
and Corresponding Members to do what they
can to make this special service more widely
known.
The London County Committee is still con
tinuing the good work in organizing the Informal
Gatherings at the George Hotel, Strand. The
attendances are always first rate, which proves
the great popularity of these little reunions.
We take this opportunity to wish you all a
very happy Easter, and expect that, with our
united efforts, the eleventh anniversary year will
prove a great success especially with regard to
membership.
