COLONEL J. SHERWOOD-KELLY,
V.C., C.M.G., D.S.O.
Reproduced by kind permission of
Phoiopress, Ltd.
We very much regret to record the death of
Colonel Sherwood-Kelly, who was an extremely
interested and staunch life member of the Ypres
League. The personal support which he so
generously gave in connection with the League's
Annual Commemoration Parades was immensely
appreciated and valued.
Colonel Sherwood-Kelly was awarded his
V.C. in January, 1918, for conspicuous bravery
when commanding a battalion of the Inniskilling
Fusiliers in France. Among his acts of bravery
was a charge which he led against some pits from
which a heavy fire was being directed against
his men. He captured the pits, together with
five machine guns and 46 prisoners, and killed a
large number of the enemy.

we have been pleased to produce the tie in better

BRITISH LEGION, YPRES.
The Annual Flower Show was held in the
school premises, Rue d'Elverdinghe, on Saturday
August 29th, and was a thoroughly successful
event. Even the weather was all that could
be desired. There were 70 competitors in the
different classes, and the exhibits of flowers,
vegetables and fruit were of excellent quality
as was also the Ladies' Section, consisting of
sundry items of cookery, jams, needlework, etc.,
and the Children's Section of drawings, writing,
etc.
The Burgomaster of Ypres kindly visited the
Show and was received by the President of the
Legion at Ypres, the Chairman of the Committee.
The attendance of visitors was very large.
The competition for the various prizes was
extremely keen, but space permits reference
only to the following -
