Captain R. Henderson-Bland has received a letter from Colonel Edward Olmsted, D.S.M., inviting
him to take his old position on the Staff of the Veterans Division for the Army Day Parade, to be held on
April 8th, in New York, U.S.A.
Captain Henderson-Bland has written to Colonel Olmsted regretting that he is unable to be present
in New York on that date, and has expressed his deep appreciation of the honour conferred on him.
He sends his kind greetings to all members of the Ypres League in America.
KENYA.
Corporal C. H. Slater very kindly made
arrangements last Armistice Day for the placing
of a Ypres League wreath on the Cenotaph,
Nairobi, and we wish to express our very grate
ful thanks to him and to the following generous

In the last issue of the Ypres Times it was
announced that a sound foundation had been
laid for a branch, and now the full Committee

March 30th, an account of which will appear

PURLEY.
Annual Dinner.
The members of the Purley Branch held their
Fifth Annual Dinner on Wednesday, March
15th, at the Red Lion, Coulsdon, under the
Presidency of Major Graham Carr, who this
year combined the office of Chairman with his
normal duties as Secretary.

THE WREATH.
No more signal honour could be offered him,
and none more richly deserved, and this fact
was duly appreciated by the large company
present.
The presence of General Sir Hubert Gough
added lustre to the Chairman's laurels, and the
gathering included two distinguished wearers
of the V.C., in the persons of Lieut. Boulter and
Captain Bill Haine, and our old friend Captain
de Trafford.
The C.O. opened the proceedings with
Orderly Room," and in the course of his
remarks referred somewhat slightingly to his
alter ego, the Secretary, much to the amusement
of his hearers.
The Bombardier then presented the cups and
momentoes appertaining to the Foursome Com
petition associated with his name. The winners
were Captain Featherstone and Major Graham
Carr, while the runners-up were Captain
Tissington and Gunner Kerr. The final pro
duced a most wonderful battle, and it is worthy
of note that the winners never led until the last
hole.
The C.O. then called upon the Father of the
Branch, Major Harris, to propose the toast of
The Visitors," and the company was treated
to a most excellent speech.
The proposer referred to the honour done to
the Branch by the presence of General Gough,
whose services to the League were gladly and
ungrudgingly given. He remarked that the
