TT5fx,e Ypres rf> Communications to The Editor, "Ypres Times,'* PRICE 6d. 20, Orchard Street, London, W.I. POST FREE 7d. Vol. 7, No. 1 Published Quarterly January, 1934 IN the absence abroad of our President I send all good wishes for the year to all members of the Ypres League. Last year's work by the League both here and at Ypres were most successful, our thanks are due to our indefatigable Secretary, Captain de Trafford, and Mr. Mears, his Assistant. No effort should be spared during the present year to interest the growing-up generation in the traditions of the Salient. A special word of congratulation is due to the Purley and Colchester P>ranches for their splendid enrolment work during last year. Nothing could give the League more confidence in the future than the remarks sent me by the Dowager Viscountess Plumer, whose message reads as follows "I should like to add my good wishes to those of Sir William Pulteney. When we were at Ypres at Whitsuntide we were all very much impressed with the work that had been achieved, I felt that the aims my husband had in view were being realised and the Settlement was not only a Memorial to the Dead but an incentive to the Living. The School which was especially dear to him seemed in a most flourishing conditionthere we hope and believe that the children inspired by the traditions of the Salient will learn the lessons of service and sacrifice which it teaches." W. P. Pulteney, Lt. General (Chairman).
