THE YPRES TIMES 81 Brigade. A most impressive little ceremony and one which is greatly respected by the town's folk. Late evening a sing-song was enjoyed of the old choruses so familiar in our camping days, on the march and in our own unit's pantomimes. Sunday morning we visited friends and places of interest, not forgetting the British Church and School. At noon we assembled on the Ramparts by the Gate to hold our annual service of remembrance, conducted by the Rev. G. R. Milner, and to place a wreath before the names of the R.A.M.C. fallen. In the afternoon Captain Hyndson took some of us to Tyne Cot and Polygon Wood. Many of the local inhabitants with their Photo] [Daniel, Yprcs 85th CLUB PARTY AT THE MENIN GATE. children visit these cemeteries of ours' on Sunday afternoon, parking their bicycles outside. These are the only places where they can tread upon real English green sward which the children seem to enjoy, but we were glad to notice that due reverence is observed. At 5 p.m. we entrained for Dunkerque, where we were once more the guests of the Seamen's Memorial Institute. Here the Chaplain showed us the historic Consul's room in which Lord Kitchener promised Joffre the full support of the whole British Empire. A calm crossing to Folkestone enabled us to get several hours wanted sleep, and we arrived at Victoria at 7.40 Monday morning, in time to turn into our offices, tired, but full of such happy memories and already looking forward to an equally pleasant trip a year hence. Many thanks to all responsible for our comfort and safe journey.
