For the fourth successive year, our Purley Branch have kept abreast of other Branches in the matter of recruiting, and although very closely pursued by both the London and Col chester Branches in 1934, they retain the honour of enrolling the greatest number of new members for the year and thereby win the £5 prize. Purley members themselves must indeed feel proud of their Branch's recruiting achievements, and we are sur.e that by extending headquarter's heartiest congratulations and gratitude to their Committee we are also voicing the sentiments of all our members. The London and Colchester Branch Committees are to be highly commended for their respective efforts and strong challenge they have given to the successful branch, and it gives us great pleasure to announce that a similar prize will be offered for 1935. We shall watch with interest to see whether Purley can complete a nap hand. GRANDE PLACE. Opposite Cloth Hall. Leading Hotel for Comfort and Quality, and Patronized by The Ypres League. Completely Renovated. Running Water. Bathrooms Moderate Terms. Garage. Copies of the October, 1933 edition would be very welcomely received by headquarters from members who can reasonably spare them. We are exceedingly disappointed to announce that our Ypisode Competition, full details of which appeared in the last October edition of the Ypres Times," has met with such a poor response that we have very reluctantly decided to cancel the competition. We have had an exceedingly welcome visit to headquarters from Mr. James Armstrong of Edinburgh, one of our most ardent of supporters. During his visit he generously presented to the League, a specimen of the veritable Seal of Robert Burns, Scotland's National Bard. The design was executed by the bard himself and bears the following inscription WOOD NOTES WILD BETTER A WEE BUSH THAN NAE BIELD The original seal was gifted by the ladies and gentlemen of Edinburgh to Robert Burns in the year 1786-87. We express our sincere thanks to Mr. Armstrong for his very generous gift which we are having framed for the headquarter office.
