March 15th18th
We have great pleasure to welcome all our
new members who have been enrolled since
the publication of the last edition of the Ypres
Times, and we are fully expectant that the
New Year will witness an appreciable increase
of membership in the inauguration of a Branch
at Auckland, New Zealand, where very con
siderable enthusiasm is being shown in the
Ypres League through our faithful promoter,
Mr. Edward Thomas, who has been working
very hard to spread the interest of the League
in his country, and in extending to Mr. Thomas
our sincere thanks we trust that his devoted
efforts will shortly be crowned with deserved
success.
We feel that our readers will be interested
in the year's travel activities, so following
the procedure in past October editions, we

This sphere of activity has now become one
of extreme importance and seldom a day passes
without headquarters being approached for
information on many questions affecting battle

comprehensive tours for small and large parties
or giving advice to independent pilgrims wish
ing to visit graves or memorials, we are, in the
course of our duty, only too glad to offer the
benefit of our experience in this particular
work.
Conforming with the League's charitable
work, we had the privilege to defray inclusive
expenses of eight poor mothers and widows to
Ypres on September 21st. These poor relatives
were selected from London, Colchester and
Sheffield, and in this connection we would
like to place on record our unanimous thanks
for the valuable financial assistance rendered
by the South Kensington Branch of the British
Legion, and by the 85th Club, whose benevolence
has been a source _of great consolation to three
of the most deserving cases on our "waiting list."
Space, unfortunately, does not permit a
longer letter, but we cannot conclude without
conveying a most sincere expression of grati
tude to our Branches, Corresponding Members,
Representatives and all individual supporters,
for their extremely valued co-operation with
headquarters in the various departments of
the League's work, and it is our wish that all
our members may enjoy a very happy Christ
mas, and a peaceful and prosperous 1936.
