Every night at 9 o'clock down at the Menin Gate all traffic stops, and every man
bares his head while the Last Post is sounded. As the clear, piercing notes ring out
one is conscious of searching emotions and a swelling heart that seems to get too big
for one's chest, bringing contact across a gap of twenty years. Was it a great week-end

LORD HAIG'S BANNER
The Banner of Sir Douglas Haig and the FlJg of the First Army, herewith reproduced,
are to be hung in the British Church at Ypres.
The work has been beautifully executed by the Friends of the Poor," 42, Ebury
Street, London, S.W. The embroidery of the Banner is the work of Mr. E. Roy, of
the Suffolk Regiment, and that of the Flag by Mr. A. Mapletoft, of the London
Regiment, who were both seriously wounded in the Great War.

The Banner and Flag will be on view at Headquarters of the Ypres League, 20,
Orchard Street, Portman Square, London, W.l, from Monday, January 13th to Saturday,
January 25th, 1936. Hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, 11 to 1 p,m,. Sunday
excepted.
A Dedication Service will be held at Ypres on Thursday, July 16th, 1936.
