YPRES LEAGUE BADGE
The design of the badgea lion guarding a
portcullis gaterepresents the British Army
defending the Salient, which was the gate to the
Channel Ports.

Informal Gatherings.
At the season's first meeting at the Bedford
Head Hotel on October 17th, we enjoyed a very-
interesting and instructive lecture on The
Navy of To-day and its Historical Background,"
delivered by Commander The Hon. S. M. A. J.
Hay, O.B.E., R.N., through the kindness of the
Navy League.
A full house attended the first Steak
Supper on November 21st, over which the.
London County Committee Chairman, Major E.
Montague Jones, O.B.E., M.A., presided. It
was a very happy band that filled the four long
tables and full justice was done to the excellent
meal supplied by mine host of the Bedford Head
Hotel. After supper, a musical programme was
provided by members present, Messrs. Evenden,
Hanser, Payne, John Boughey and Captain-
Peabody led the Community singing. Mr«

WREATHS.
Arrangements are made by the Ypres League
to place wreaths for relatives on the graves of
British soldiers situated in France and Belgium
at the following times of the year:
EASTER, ARMISTICE DAY, CHRISTMAS.
The wreaths may be composed of natural
flowers, laurel, or holly, and can be bought at
the following prices12s. 6d., 15s. 6d., and 20s.,
according to the size and quality of the wreath.

Dark shade of cornflower blue relieved by a
narrow gold stripe. In good quality silk.

Thompson gave us some recitations, including an
amusing burlesque on how our Hon. Secretary
went home after the 5th Army O.C.A. Barrack
Supper. As one of the rank and file of the Ypres
League, Mr. Schlienger paid tribute to the hard
work put in by our Chairman, Major Montague
Jones, and said how pleased we were to have
his company. The happy evening closed with
Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem.
The December gathering took the form of a
variety entertainment, very kindly organised
by Mr. O. Mears of Headquarters, and we
congratulate him on having procured artistes
of such high standard comedians, vocalists,
jugglers and dancers were all deserving of the
enthusiastic reception accorded them by the
large assembly, and the whole show was readily
in keeping with the close approach of the festive
season. We cannot conclude our reference to
this particular re-union without expressing our
most grateful thanks to Mr. Mears who, it will
be remembered, has generously provided the
